Food, family and freak-outs
I have a deep and abiding hatred of white pepper. The husband thinks I'm nuts, but I can taste even a little bit in anything and it's ruined many a perfectly good Chinese meal for me.
It made the soup too "peppery", almost bitter. I was responding very badly to it last night, but the kids ate all of their soup! So maybe it was just me? It was only a 1/4 tsp of pepper too. My grandmother's chicken salad recipe calls for white pepper and I have never had an issue with it before. Huh.
